CUEB-TAMU Reciprocal Educational Exchange Program

About the Program

The program is for a full semester (in the spring, summer or fall), or academic year. The credit hours students take at CUEB will be transferred to Texas A&M. Hours will count towards the Texas A&M residency requirement. Tuition and mandatory fees, where applicable, will be paid directly to Texas A&M. Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from CUEB, as well as for their room, board, insurance, and any other necessary fees while attending CUEB. Most students can get 2500 yuan/month subsidy from a program that supports U.S.- Chinese students exchange.

Advanced Teaching Resources

The program offers a wide range of courses, including economics, contemporary Chinese economy issues,statistics, accounting, finance and management. All the courses are taught in English, by faculties who have PhDs from universities in North America or Europe, such as Boston University, Texas A&M University, University of Washington, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Queen’s University in Canada. Besides, regular seminars are offered by world-renowned scholars. Also, ISEM has many Honorary Professors, including Prof. Jianqing Fan (Princeton University), Prof. Oliver Linton (Cambridge University), Prof. Qiwei Yao (London School of Economics), Prof. Cheng Hsiao (University of Southern California), and Prof. Yuxin Chen (New York University).

Campus Life

Living at the Beijing downtown campus is comfortable and affordable. There are several types of dormitories for international students ranging from 30 to 51 yuan per day (RMB, one US dollar is about 6.5 yuan) according to room types and facilities. Rooms are equipped with air conditioners, telephones, a safe, campus network and Internet access as well as Wi-Fi. There are public kitchens and coin or card washing machines, as well as a coffee area and gym. The campus cafeteria also offers a variety of dining options, and specialty Halal meals. Most students can get 2500 yuan/month subsidy from a program that supports U.S.- Chinese students exchange.

Life in Beijing

The program offers an opportunity to study and live in Beijing. Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and one of the most populous cities in the world, with a total population of 21,150,000 as of 2013. Beijing has been the political center of the country for much of the past eight centuries. The city is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, parks, gardens, tombs, walls and gates, and its art treasures and universities have made it a center of culture and art in China.
