The International School of Economics and Management Hosts the Fifth Academic Sharing Event: “Fusion of Ideas, Convergence of Thoughts, and Creation of Futures”

On May 18th at 14:00, the International School of Economics and Management held the Fifth Academic Sharing Event "Fusion of Ideas, Convergence of Thoughts, and Creation of Futures" in the first Lecture Hall of Boyuan Building. The purpose of this event is to provide a platform for graduate students to engage the exchange of ideas, academic discussion, self-presentation, and self-improvement. The guests and evaluators in attendance for this event included: Vice Dean, Weiming LI; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Meihui WANG; Faculty members, Yuting HUANG, Rui QIAO, Taining WANG, Yaqing XIAO, Zhiwei LIU, and Xinxi SONG. This event was hosted by the Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Minxuan BAI.

The event began with the opening speech delivered by Meihui WANG, in which she expressed a warm welcome and gratitude to the teachers, students, and staff in attendance. She conveyed three hopes to the students: First, she hoped that they would be full of vitality and dreams, paying attention to the details, starting small, and working diligently, living their dreams, and dreaming their lives. Second, she encouraged them not to fear challenges and setbacks, to remember their initial intentions, be loyal to their perseverance, overcoming obstacles with determination, and riding the waves with courage. Third, she urged the students to be brave in innovations and reforms, maintain an opening mind, and serve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. In conclusion, she wished the participating students excellent results in this competition and the success of this academic and cultural festival.


Before the competition, the committee received a total of 17 excellent paper submissions. After the selection process, 7 students were chosen for the academic sharing session for presentations. During the presentation phase, the 7 participants introduced their research backgrounds, contributions, research methods, main findings, and future research directions related to their papers. Following each participant's presentation, the committee members provided their comments, offering suggestions for improvement. Additionally, each participant engaged in a defense of their work by addressing the questions raised by the judges, leading to valuable insights for both the participants and the audience present.
After the defense session, Weiming LI delivered the closing speech. He first expressed gratitude to the committee, participating students, audience, and staff. He pointed out that the purpose of organizing the academic sharing session is to provide graduate students with a platform to showcase their research achievements, thereby enhancing their research capabilities. This platform also aims to provide a foundation for their future work by fostering critical thinking and enhancing their skills. He encouraged the students to actively participate in academic activities in the college, with the aspiration that they would achieve success in their future careers and research. Finally, Weiming LI offered his congratulations in advance to the students who participated in the defense presentations.


Finally, the faculties evaluated the participants based on the following aspects: the topic of the research, the academic integrity of the paper, the logical structure of the paper, the appropriateness of the research methodologies, the theoretical or empirical contributions, and their performance of the presentations. In the end, the third prize was awarded to Yunlong WU, Nan LI, Chang LIU, and Yichen ZHENG. The second prize was awarded to Jiao LI and Jiashuo ZHAO, and the first prize was awarded to Yali HE.
