On the morning of June 15th, the International School of Economics and Management held the 2023 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Awarding Ceremony at the student activity center. Attendees included Qingmei ZENG, the Secretary of the School Party Committee; Kunpeng LI, the Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee and Dean; Meihui WANG, the Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee; Jing GAO and Weiming LI, Vice Deans; Zongye HUANG, the Director of the Department of Financial Technology and Management Science; Yichen GAO, the Director of the Economics Department; Caiji PANG, the Deputy Director of the Department of Financial Technology and Management Science; Yi NIU and Shi JIN, Party Committee Members, Niu Yi also serving as the Deputy Director of the Economics Department, Jin Shi also serving as the Office Director and the Class Supervisor of the graduating class; Haixiao XU, the Secretary for Research and Graduate Studies, and the Class Supervisor for the graduating class, as well as part-time counselors Jiashuo ZHAO. The ceremony was attended by all 2023 graduates and some of their parents. The ceremony was presided over by Minxuan BAI, the Secretary of Youth League Committee.

The ceremony began with a memory video, allowing the graduates to once again feel the years they had spent together. Time flew by, the graduates had completed their wonderful and fulfilling years at Capital University of Economics and Business, ready to embark on new journeys with their dreams.

Qingmei ZENG delivered a speech in which she expressed congratulations and expectations for the graduates. She hoped that the students would pursue excellence, never cease their efforts, always hold onto their dreams, and maintain a thirst for knowledge. At the same time, she encouraged the students to be grateful and positive. Finally, she expressed her hope that the students would contribute to society and to their country. She urged the students, to stay vigilant in times of prosperity, and to work hard in times of adversity, contributing their wisdom and strength to the development of society.

Weiming LI announced the “Decision on Awarding the Honorary Titles of Outstanding Graduates at the City and University Levels to Students” and presented certificates to the outstanding graduates.

Jing GAO announced the “Decision on Appointing School-Level and College-Level Outstanding Alumni Liaison Officers, including” and presented appointment letters to the alumni liaison officers.

In her speech as the representative of the graduates, Ruochen WANG expressed heartfelt gratitude and sincere respect to her school and the faculty. She acknowledged that the school and the college had provided them with the ladder to reach new heights, enabling all of them to confidently stand on a higher stage and shine in their youth. She emphasized that each student would continue to move forward with their heads held high in their new roles and stages of life, showcasing the spirit of Capital University of Economics and Business.

Kunpeng LI passionately delivered the “Last Lesson” to all the graduates. He began by warmly congratulating the graduates on their abundant academic achievements and encouraged them to “be students for a lifetime”. He emphasized that graduation should not be seen as the end, as learning knows no bounds. He kindly reminded the students that “a healthy body is the foundation of a revolution” and encouraged them to maintain good physical health and engage in regular exercise. Kunpeng LI expressed that the prosperity of the country, the vigorous development of the university, and the growth of the college were all closely related to each and every student. He concluded by quoting a message from President XI to the youth, hoping that everyone would love their country, selflessly contribute, fearlessly climb the heights, and make their own contribution in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

During the graduation ceremony, the college unveiled the International School of Economics and Management (ISEM) IP character “Whale”. A student design team representative, Guanjie WANG, introduced the design concept. In ancient China, “Whale” was referred to as “Kun”, symbolizing ambitious aspirations akin to the soaring Kunpeng bird, inspiring the students of ISEM to have resolute ideals and enjoy their youth. The “Whale” represents the spirit of moving forward courageously and pursuing freedom, motivating ISEM students to forge ahead and overcome challenges. It also symbolizes wisdom and exceptional insight. The pronunciation of “Whale” is the same as the Chinese word for “Economics”, which reflects the college's earnest expectations for its students to be diligent and sharp-minded. The college prepared ISEM IP character figurines and “ISEM” printed canvas bags as graduation gifts for the students, symbolizing the college and students’ shared vision of continuous growth and prosperity.

Finally, on behalf of the teachers, the tassel was moved, and degrees were conferred upon all the graduates. Through their hard work and dedication, they have gathered here. Hope all the graduates have a beautiful and bright future!
